Flightbeam and Jetstream Designs have shown the first previews of KPHX, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, for Microsoft Flight Simulator, in a post on 16 October titled KPHX - First Previews.
Why so quiet? The teams say it has been very quiet at both studios because they have been focused on producing KPHX. Their main goal, they say, has always been the most accurate representation possible of the airport, down to the finest detail. The airport was surveyed in person, which was covered in FSElite's four-part documentary.
A tricky layout. According to Flightbeam, KPHX has a very unusual layout, which is the main reason previews took so long. Because all the major pieces fit together, an early preview without most elements complete would not have represented the product well.
Where it's up to. In their words: now that we're closing on the final large elements of production, we're happy to give you a glimpse. The previews are on FSElite, and more screenshots were posted in the Flightbeam Discord, in the KPHX channel, on 17 October.
Release date and price. It is still a work in progress, and there is no release date or price yet.
Why it matters. Flightbeam is known for highly detailed US airports, and Phoenix is a major hub for American Airlines and Southwest, so it should be a popular destination for airliner pilots.
