Thrustmaster has announced three updates for owners of its T598 direct drive wheel base.
A 2-year worldwide warranty
Thrustmaster says all T598 products now come with a 2-year warranty, valid worldwide.
A free Cable Locking Kit
Any T598 owner can ask for a free T598 Cable Locking Kit, and Thrustmaster says it's shipped free of charge worldwide. You request it through the "Request my free kit" form on Thrustmaster's T598 update page, which asks for your shipping details.
The kit is a set of plastic retaining clips that screw onto the back of the base and hold the power and USB-C cables in place. Thrustmaster says it's designed mainly for permanent cockpit setups but works just as well on a desk. Once it's fitted, the USB-C cable still unplugs normally, while the power cable can only be removed by unscrewing its clip with the included Allen key. It fits in a few minutes with the screws and Allen keys in the box, and it works with the T598-P, T598-X and T598 Servo Base.
Firmware updates
Thrustmaster says it's continuing to improve the T598 with regular firmware updates, including haptic effects such as Gear Jolt and Engine Roar. It encourages owners to keep their base up to date, and its update page links to a step-by-step firmware guide.
