A2A Simulations' Accu-Sim Legacy RG550 is out now for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. It costs $49.99 (US dollars; no UK price has been given) on the A2A Simulations Store, and a separate Livery Pack 1 is $4.99.

A2A says the Legacy RG550 brings together high performance and the hands-on character of a homebuilt aircraft. According to the store page, it climbs at more than 2,000 feet per minute and cruises at up to 280 mph, and it has a roomy cockpit with a one-piece lifting canopy.

What Accu-Sim adds

  • Engine: a physics-based model of the IO-550-N engine, simulating fuel injection, ignition and wear. You can tune it yourself, including RPM trim, idle setting, compression ratio and ignition timing.
  • Six prop types: you can swap between six prop types and see the changes to the sound and performance in real time.
  • Flight model: A2A says its aerodynamics model is validated against real-world Legacy RG550 performance.
  • Sound: more than 1,500 sound effects.

In the cockpit

A2A has built its own instruments and avionics, including a Garmin G5, a TruTrak Sorcerer autopilot, Bendix/King radios and JP Instruments engine monitors. It supports the default GNS 430W/530W and IFD 550, PMS50 and TDS GTN units, and the freeware KLN-90B GPS. There's also a native MSFS 2024 pilot's tablet for fuel, payload, maintenance and engine data, which works alongside EFB apps such as SimBrief and Navigraph Charts.

A2A has also released a first video guide to the avionics, to go with the manual in the aircraft's Documentation folder.

What's planned

A2A says an MSFS 2020 version is planned and will be added to the MSFS 2024 product at no extra cost. A glass cockpit variant is also planned as a free update once testing is complete. A2A hasn't given a date for either.
