DeltaWing Simulations' ATR 72-600 is out now for X-Plane 12. It's on sale on the X-Plane.org Store for $69.95, and DeltaWing calls it its first study-level product. The developer says the systems, procedures and avionics are modelled in detail on the real aircraft.

It's for X-Plane 12 only (not X-Plane 11) and runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. The download is 5.7 GB, and DeltaWing recommends a graphics card with 8 GB of VRAM or more.

The cockpit and avionics

  • Six-screen glass cockpit: PFDs, NDs, the Engine & Warning Display and the Multi-Function Display, with display reversion, per-side control panels and the flight mode annunciator.
  • Thales-style FMS with dual MCDUs: full flight planning on X-Plane 12's default navigation data, including SIDs, STARs and approaches, holds, offsets, direct-to and vertical guidance.
  • AFCS autopilot and flight director, with lateral and vertical modes and approach capture, plus TAWS with its pop-up and advisory logic.

Systems

  • PW127M engines with realistic start and shutdown, and HOTEL mode, which uses the propeller brake.
  • ATPCS automatic take-off power control, with autofeather and uptrim.
  • Electrical, hydraulic, braking and anti-skid, air conditioning, pressurisation and bleed air, fire protection, and ice and rain protection. DeltaWing says the de-icing boots run on their real cycle and shed X-Plane's ice.
  • A Flight Warning System with hundreds of warnings and cautions, electronic checklists for normal, abnormal and emergency procedures, and failures such as tyre bursts from brake misuse or overspeed, propeller ground strikes and sensor failures.

Gate to gate

  • An EFB tablet with a flight dashboard, moving map, flight-plan import and route builder, and Navigraph Charts integration (a Navigraph subscription is needed).
  • Ground operations: GPU, chocks, refuelling, catering, cargo, stairs, and water and lavatory service, in real time or as an instant turnaround.
  • Persistent aircraft state, so the aircraft loads the way you left it, editable yoke notes, a throttle quadrant overlay for hardware throttles, and VR support.
  • Ten free liveries: Air Nostrum, BahamasAir, Binter, Clic, Loganair, Maldivian, Olympic Air, Satena, Silver Airways and Sky Express. DeltaWing has also released a paint kit for livery artists.

If you've already downloaded it

On release day, DeltaWing said the store's download link was giving some buyers an outdated package. It asked anyone affected to use the Skunkcrafts updater to get the correct build, version 1.0.0-0r1, and later said the link "should be fixed", but anyone whose download doesn't show v1.0.0-0r1 should still run the Skunkcrafts updater.

DeltaWing Simulations says it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by ATR or any of the airlines or companies whose liveries are included for free with this product, and that all aircraft names, airline names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
