PMDG's 737-800 is available again on PlayStation 5 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. PMDG's Mathijs Kok announced it on the PMDG forum on Tuesday 27 October.
PMDG says it was "a little reluctant" to post about it, after the 737's previous PS5 release "ended in an aborted landing followed by a rather extended holding pattern". This time, it says, "everything appears to have gone exactly as planned".
The full simulation
PMDG says the PS5 version isn't cut down. "The complete simulation is there, with all the systems, procedures, and features that make the PMDG 737 what it is," the post says. "No simplified console edition, no watered-down experience."
The developer puts part of that down to the 737 being "a true, native MSFS 2024 product", built for the new simulator rather than carrying legacy components. It says feedback from its PlayStation customers has been "absolutely excellent", with smooth performance and systems that "behave exactly as they should".
What it covers
PMDG's announcement covers the 737-800, and it doesn't give a PS5 price.
msfsaddons reported that the 737-800 first appeared on the PS5 store in mid-July and was removed shortly afterwards. It also reported that PMDG said last week it hoped to have the rest of the 737 family on PlayStation Network by the end of October, and noted that a copy bought on PC or Xbox doesn't carry over to PS5, because the PS5 Marketplace is a separate store.
