Fancy a business jet in X-Plane 12? Aerobask's Dassault Falcon 8X is out now in public beta. It went on sale on the X-Plane.org Store on Thursday 22 October, as Version 12.0b1, which the store's version history lists as the "First Public Beta". It's $86.95 on the X-Plane.org Store.
Public beta, not a full release. The store describes this Initial Public Beta as "functional flight under normal conditions, from cold and dark startup to shutdown". The store page also says the Skunkcrafts updater 4.0 is required for future updates.
Officially licensed. The Falcon 8X is developed under an official licence from Dassault Aviation, and the store says it was developed and flight-tested with a real Dassault Aviation pilot and instructor acting as technical referent.
Flight controls. Aerobask has recreated the real Falcon 8X's Primary Flight Control System from scratch, using the actual fly-by-wire laws rather than X-Plane's stock flight model or autopilot. The autopilot and autothrottle are custom too.
Avionics. There's a FalconEye-style dual head-up display with conformal synthetic vision, and a custom EASy avionics suite with a full custom FMS, SimBrief flight plan import, integrated Navigraph charts, an electronic checklist, EGPWS and TCAS II.
Cabin, sound and liveries. The store lists a full FMOD sound environment with all samples recorded on a real Falcon, an animated cabin, and 10 4K liveries plus one white livery for repaints.
Requirements. X-Plane 12 only (not X-Plane 11), on Windows, Mac or Linux. The store lists an 8 GB VRAM graphics card as the minimum, with 10 GB or more recommended.
Will you be flying it in beta?
