Assetto Corsa EVO's long-awaited Free Roam mode finally has a date. During their presentation at SimRacing Expo 2026 in Frankfurt on 16 October, KUNOS Simulazioni and publisher 505 Games announced that the 0.10 update will launch on 9 December 2026.

What is Free Roam? Free Roam takes Assetto Corsa EVO beyond circuit racing. It is built around a 1:1 scale recreation of selected districts of Germany's Eifel region, home of the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The first playable area includes the Nordschleife itself, nearby villages, local roads, country routes and off-road paths, as well as regional landmarks, all recreated using real-world scale data.

What can you do there? According to KUNOS, Free Roam includes dynamic weather, a full day and night cycle, AI-driven road traffic and optional driving activities such as Time Attack events built into the open world. It can be played solo or in multiplayer. The developers say the map will keep growing through future updates, so more of the Eifel is planned.

First hands-on at the Expo. Visitors to SimRacing Expo (16 to 18 October) were among the first members of the public to try Free Roam, at playable stations on the Assetto Corsa booth in Hall 12. KUNOS also released a video with Nürburgring expert and racing driver Misha Charoudin comparing the real Eifel roads with the sim.

Where things stand. Assetto Corsa EVO is currently in Early Access on Steam for PC. KUNOS calls 0.10 the most ambitious content update since Early Access began.

Why it matters. Free Roam around the Nordschleife has been one of the most requested features from Assetto Corsa fans, and it gives EVO something very different from other racing sims. We will report on the update when it lands on 9 December.
