19 October was a big day for BeamNG. BeamNG.drive launched on PlayStation 5, and PC players got the v0.40 update on the same day.
BeamNG.drive on PS5. BeamNG announced in May that the game was coming to PS5 in 2026, and on 24 September it confirmed a release date of 19 October. It arrived that afternoon in Early Access, at 15:00 UK time, and costs £17.99 on the UK PlayStation Store.
What's not included yet. BeamNG was upfront that VR and mods are not supported on PS5 at launch. It says it is aiming for feature parity across platforms where possible in the long term, but cannot confirm timing or scope yet.
v0.40 on PC. On PC, v0.40 brings local split-screen in Freeroam and seven game modes, which BeamNG says supports up to 64 players. It also adds physical passengers who sit in the car, weighing 89 kg each, and support for DLSS, FSR 3 and 4 and XeSS, plus native Windows on Arm.
New truck: the Cherrier Percheron. The headline vehicle is the Cherrier Percheron, a full-size European cab-over semi truck from the early 2000s, which BeamNG calls its most interactable vehicle yet. It comes in three cab sizes, five frame lengths and axle layouts from 2 to 5 axles, giving more than 50 chassis setups. It is powered by a 12.8-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine with 310 to 500 hp, with a 12-speed manual or 7-speed automatic, and has a working hydrodynamic retarder to prevent brake fade on long descents. Upfits include a flatbed, an insulated box, concrete mixers and fuel or foodstuffs tankers.
Why it matters. BeamNG's soft-body physics have been a PC favourite for years, and the PS5 version opens it up to console players for the first time.
