Flying the Airbus from the captain's seat? MOZA has confirmed on its YouTube channel today, Wednesday 21 October, that the MOZA x Airbus MA3F Captain's Left-Hand Sidestick Grip launches on Thursday 22 October at 9am EDT, which is 14:00 UK time. MOZA calls it its first officially Airbus-licensed flight simulation product.
What is the MA3F? It's a left-hand grip, made for the captain's seat, that fits MOZA's force feedback flight bases. Until now, MOZA's existing MA3X grip has only covered the first officer's side, flown with the right hand. The MA3F is sold as a grip on its own, without a base.
Not a surprise reveal. Early prototypes were seen at FSWeekend in Lelystad in March and at FlightSimExpo, and MOZA showed the stick at FSIM UK in Bristol, where FSElite went hands-on. What's new today is the official confirmation and the launch time.
What's on it? According to FSElite and simFlight, the grip works in pitch and roll, with twist if your base supports it. It has swappable magnetic plates, so you can fit either a 5-way hat or a thumb rest, plus a rear trigger (push-to-talk on the real aircraft), two side buttons and a 5-pin aviation connector.
Price and compatibility. simFlight's review on 15 October reports a price of €89 and compatibility with the AB6 and AB9 bases. (Reported by simFlight, to be confirmed by MOZA.)
Why it matters. Airbus fans with a MOZA base have been waiting for a proper captain's-side stick, and an officially licensed one makes the left seat a real option at home. We'll update this story when the MA3F goes on sale tomorrow.
