AI air traffic control is having a big moment in flight sim, and X-Plane users now have more options.
SayIntentions.AI Living World. SayIntentions.AI's Living World traffic injection, which launched on Microsoft Flight Simulator, now supports X-Plane 11 and 12 as well. It fills the sky around you with commercial airliners and general aviation traffic, and every injected aircraft is managed by SayIntentions' AI ATC, with its own AI pilot on frequency.
How it works. On the commercial IFR side, airliners fly real seasonal routes with realistic timing, from pushback to arrival. The AI ATC handles pushback and taxi sequencing, departure flow, arrival spacing and conditional landing clearances, with runway use that changes by day of the week, and aircraft use the correct gates. On the VFR side, general aviation traffic flies pattern work and cross-country trips around local airports. Third-party livery libraries are supported.
Price and requirements. Living World is included with SayIntentions Premium, and there is a 24-hour free trial of Premium. It is Windows only and supports MSFS 2020 and 2024 as well as X-Plane 11 and 12.
BeyondATC comes to X-Plane 12. BeyondATC, the AI ATC add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator, is also heading to X-Plane 12. As of 19 October, it is on the Experimental branch for supporters and will be available to all BeyondATC customers at no extra cost. BeyondATC features more than 300 AI voices with regional accents, FAA and ICAO phraseology, IFR and experimental VFR support, AI traffic injection and SimBrief integration. It is still in Early Access, so expect bugs.
Why it matters. For a long time, realistic ATC and busy skies were mostly an MSFS story. With both of these tools supporting X-Plane, X-Plane pilots now have a choice of AI ATC too.
